Building Materials E-commerce Platform
About the Project
Malmart is a custom eCommerce platform designed for purchasing building materials, construction products, home improvement products and related supplies online.
The platform brings products from multiple categories and brands into a single digital marketplace, allowing customers to browse products, check pricing, manage their cart, place orders and manage their accounts.
The platform also includes location-based functionality, allowing product purchasing and availability to be handled according to the customer’s current location.
The frontend, backend and administration system were developed as a custom application rather than relying on a traditional WordPress/WooCommerce implementation. The live platform currently presents categories including building materials, steel bars, cement, bricks and blocks, home and interior products, construction and outdoor products, and home solutions.
Technologies Used
The Challenge
Malmart required more than a standard online store. The platform needed to support a large and diverse product catalog while providing customers with a simple purchasing experience.
A key requirement was location-based purchasing, where the customer’s current location can influence the products and purchasing experience available to them.
The system also needed separate customer-facing and administrative applications, with the administration team requiring control over products, categories, brands, blogs, orders, customers and other website content.
Another important requirement was to provide a flexible content management system so that administrators could publish blogs from the custom admin panel and have those blogs appear dynamically on the frontend.
Our Solution
We developed a complete full-stack eCommerce ecosystem consisting of a custom React/Next.js frontend, a NestJS backend and a custom React/Next.js administration panel.
The frontend was designed around the complete customer journey, from browsing categories and products through account registration, login, cart management and checkout.
The platform also supports dynamic content and business operations, including product and category management, customer accounts, location-based purchasing, order management and blog management. This architecture provides Malmart with a flexible and scalable foundation for managing its growing range of building materials and customer services.
